hold it in your hand
“We met in the mountains
And fled to the East,
Just you and a girl
From some place in between…”
It has been a very, very long time coming. I remember clearly standing at the corner of Pandora and Fernwood in Victoria, sometime in early 2004. The phrase "girl between places" was running through my head, in part thanks to a Jill Barber song I was listening to a lot at the time.
The seed was planted at that time for a collection of words - poems that were yet to be - and I am so pleased to announced that the seed has grown into a beautiful (if thin) volume of poetry, entitled, you guessed it: Girl Between Places.
The title, of course, is appropriate for all the ramblings I have been doing these past eight or nine years. It's also appropriate to let this one out into the world now, when the decision to move to Nelson and commit to staying here has been made.
There will likely always be ramblings of the mind, and of the heart, but for now the body is growing roots.
I'd like to humbly offer this 39-page volume for $10, to help cover production costs and shipping. I have a PayPal account and have figured out how to insert a payment button, below. Thank you Zsofi for your help! I also have a house with an address and a mail slot, for those who prefer to send a cheque. Thank you so much for your support.
I'll leave you with the cover art and one poem from within...and hope to hear from you soon.
Also wishing everyone a wonderful Solstice week filled with warmth and light.

Consistency be damned:
This table sits crooked, spilling
water each time
my typing changes hands.
I slosh around in here, this café,
This seaside town, my mind.
My nose stuck in an old copy of
Best of Halifax,
my head in the clouds.
But at least I love poetry.
At least I get feedback, once in a long while,
For the stories I write.
At least the tourists come and go, and one day,
I will decide whether or not
I am one of them.
Sign me up! I'll always be first in line. :)
