I am so busy cutting fresh pieces of watermelon to eat that I can hardly sit still to write. So this will be a mostly-photo post to show how nicely our new part of the world is greening up for spring. The list of "what I miss about Nova Scotia" items still lingers in my head - beaches, friendly faces, and Joanne's cupcakes are definitely in the top five - while slowly, the charms of the Kootenays are working on me.
Nelson is much more green that I would have expected, and I have to remember that for a kid growing up in Alberta, where winter lasts well into May (complete with grey-brown landscape and disgusting piles of melted snow and gravel), places like Nelson were a total revelation to me. Right up there with the marvels of the Okanagan and the Coast. So I'm trying to imagine that we are still on a bit of a holiday and take the time to explore with curious eyes, rather than those of a busy parent juggling work and the business of getting settled in a new place.
